Still Photography
Approaching this project I knew that using Photoshop would really help. Also bright colors would look very good. I wanted to use a lot of patterns and repetitive motion. I used framing, color, and repetition. I took these photos individually and then later combined them in Photoshop.
I think I did a good job with the repetition of these photos. If I had more time I would have been able to make these much better. my favorite photo would be the coin photo or the sketch-like paper clip photo (3rd photo). My least favorite is the the 2nd Coke can photo (5th photo). I like the concept but I didn't have sufficient time to finish complete it. I would have retaken the photo and gotten better lighting and color.
The make these photos or compositions I started off by taking a photo of each item I wanted in it. To explain how I made these I'm going to use the coin photo. After I took a photo of each coin I imported them into Photoshop. I used the magic wand took to select the background. I used refine selection to get the precise selection of the coin. I then deleted the background and now had only the coin without the background. I did this for each of the 3 coins. I placed the euro in center of my composition and made a blue background. I put my second coin above the euro and moved the anchor point to the middle. I rotated right holding the shift key to move it 20 degrees each time. I duplicated the coin and repeated the process until I had finished the circle. I did this all again for the next circle of coins. To make these coins actually look like they are on the blue background I added a drop shadow to the group of coins. I offset the distance, increased my sized, and lowered my occupancy. This gave it the best and most realistic shadow. I added on top of everything two different color grades. I made the coins black and white, and on the second color grade I made them look more bronze.
I take away from these photos that using photoshop and different patterns can make a very interesting composition.
